Lab Technician – Preclinical & Translational Research

Position Summary
We seek an experienced, highly motivated Lab Technician to join a newly formed team in the Preclinical & Translational Research Department focusing on assay development with human and murine samples. You will work in a team on establishing immunological assays to further understand the mechanism of action in anti-tumor immunity. In addition, you will contribute to characterizing candidate therapies in pre-clinical models and support in moving lead candidates into clinical development. This position covers both in vitro and in vivo techniques involving work in the laboratory and animal facility.
- Cell culture of primary cells and cell lines
- Isolation of primary immune cells from human blood and murine blood/organs
- Perform immunological assays, which mainly include multi-color flow cytometry, cytokine analysis, cell sorting (FACS, MACS)
- Optimize and set-up of novel experimental approaches
- Support in vivo studies e.g. tumor growth monitoring
- Independent planning, execution and analysis of experiments
- Perform experiments with infectious material under BSL-2 conditions
- Follow documentation, sample and data management and documentation in accordance with Hookipa guidelines and support maintenance of lab equipment
- Ability to work on a weekend and statutory holiday, if necessary
Qualifications
- MTA, BTA or B.Sc, MSc. or equivalent experience in relevant field (e.g. Immunology, Biology, Life Sciences, Biotechnology)
- Hands-on lab experience with cell culture and (multi-color) flow cytometry is a must
- Good understanding of immunological and immune-oncological concepts
- Experiences in immunoassays are a plus
- Willingness to learn mouse handling
- Independent, efficient, well organized, solution- and detail-oriented, hands-on mentality
- Motivated, flexible team player with the ability to handle multiple tasks in parallel and deliver high quality results under tight timelines
- MS Office and data analysis skills (GraphPad Prism, FlowJo)
- Eager to acquire new knowledge, to learn, develop and optimize novel techniques preclinical and translational development
- Excellent communication skills in English; German is a plus

We are required by Austrian law to post a minimum salary. The minimum monthly gross salary for this position is 2.754,- based on fulltime (40 hours per week). However, depending on your qualification and work-related experience salary can be negotiated. In addition, we offer a performance-related bonus payment and participation in our stock option compensation program.
