(Senior) Financial Analyst (m/f)

Position Summary

We are looking for an ambitious (Senior) Financial Analyst to join our highly motivated and dedicated team at HOOKIPA, who enjoys working in a multinational and multicultural environment & is passionate about life-sciences and innovation. The responsibilities include providing standardized and insightful financial analyses and reports to support executive strategic decision making, support the budget and forecast planning process as well as assisting in the development of controlling/internal reporting systems, design and improvement of IT based reporting solutions by leveraging dashboards and analytical tools. The position requires understanding of business and financial processes, excellent analytical skills, affinity to working with IT tools, and hands-on mentality.

Main Responsibilities
  • Build, consolidate and prepare summary files for reporting and analyzing actuals, forecasts and budget - necessary for accurate accounting of consolidated business results
  • Assist in performing ad hoc analytics (investment decision-making, headcount analyses, etc.) and roll-ups
  • Assist in day-to-day management of departmental financial analysis needs
  • Work with Accounting on monthly close and assess monthly accruals/cross-charges
  • Assist in accounting close process by analyzing variances and ensuring financial reporting is accurate
  • Develop process improvements for financial reporting and analytical tools
  • Participate in projects for adaptation and optimization of processes, work flows and IT systems
  • Other ad hoc analysis and duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • BA or B.Sc degree in Business/Accounting or professional Controlling/Accounting qualification of at least 3 years
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience in communicating on financials with business units
  • Excellent analytical and modeling skills and ability to work with and develop ERP systems, complex Excel models and other financial software tools
  • Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and solid understanding of corporate finance concepts
  • Ability to work and adapt to fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in an accurate and timely manner
  • Highly motivated and committed to driving change and to continually improving processes and results
  • Curiosity and interest in learning details of clinical-research and business operations
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills are important and an ability to work well both independently and as part of a team

 

Highly proficient in Excel (including the ability to build models using pivot tables, VLOOKUP and high-level functions and formulas) and PowerPoint with Think-Cell

  • Solid knowledge of key finance systems and reporting software
  • Detail-oriented, exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills are essential in this collaborative work environment
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and comfortable managing through complexity and change
  • Presentation skills and the capability to simplify complex financial information
  • Demonstrate teamwork skills, including strong people skills in working with stakeholders across multiple geographies and functions
  • Experience in high-growth and global environments is advantage, Biotech or Pharmaceutical industry experience is a plus
  • Valid EU working permit
  • Fluent in both written and oral  German and English

We are required by Austrian law to post a minimum salary. The minimum monthly gross salary for this position is EUR 2.523,- (Specialist) or EUR 2.837,- (Senior Specialist) based on fulltime depending on experience and qualification salary can be negotiated. In addition, we offer a performance-related bonus payment and participation in our stock option compensation program.
