Position Summary

We seek an experienced, highly motivated (Senior) Lab Technician to join our team in a fast-paced drug discovery environment. You will join the Preclinical & Translational Research Department, contribute to discovering new targets and developing novel therapies, characterizing the immunogenicity and efficacy of candidate therapies in a range of preclinical models, and to moving lead candidates into clinical development. You will work on discovery and development projects, using a wide range of in vitro and in vivo techniques while closely interacting with scientists and peers. This position involves working in the laboratory and the animal facility.

Main Responsibilities
  • Together with scientists, develop and establish experiments and methods to validate drug targets and to investigate the mechanism of action of anti-tumor immunity
  • Execute, analyze, and present experiments to characterize novel drug candidates for immuno-oncology projects in various in vitro and ex vivo assays
  • Conduct studies to evaluate and establish efficacy, combination strategies, and biomarker identification
  • Perform in vivo studies (mouse handling, micro-surgeries, compound administration, tumor growth monitoring, tissue sample preparation for ex vivo analysis)
  • Perform a variety of immunoassays (multicolor flow cytometry, ELISA, multiplex cytokine profiling)
  • Perform in vitro assays with human PBMCs and cell lines (transfection, ELISpot, cytotoxicity, proliferation, live cell imaging)
  • Maintain and characterize immune cells and other cells of the tumor micro-environment
  • Work with infectious materials under BSL-2 conditions
  • Prepare documentation in accordance with Hookipa guidelines and contribute to maintenance of lab equipment
  • Ability to work on weekends and statutory holidays if necessary

 

Qualifications

  • MTA, BTA, Dipl. Ing. (FH), B.Sc., M.Sc. or equivalent in relevant field (e.g., Biology, Immunology, Microbiology, Biotechnology)
  • Experience with cell culture, multicolor flow cytometry, immunological assays; molecular biology techniques (qPCR, transfection, transduction) are a plus
  • Good skills in mouse handling; experience with anatomy, anesthesia, blood and tissue collection, basic surgery, various dosing techniques are a plus
  • Hands-on background in small animal imaging such as bioluminescence and fluorescence imaging are a plus
  • Independent, efficient, proactive, well organized, solution- and detail-oriented, hands-on mentality
  • Motivated, flexible team player with the ability to handle multiple tasks in parallel and deliver high quality results under tight timelines
  • MS Office and data analysis skills (GraphPad Prism, FlowJo)
  • Strong interest in working in a creative environment and in participating in all aspects of preclinical development
  • Eager to acquire new knowledge, to develop and learn new techniques
  • Excellent communication skills in English; German is a plus

We are required by Austrian law to post a minimum salary. The minimum monthly gross salary from EUR 2.523,- (Lab Technician) to EUR 2.837,- (Senior Lab Technician) based on fulltime (40 hours per week); depending on experience and qualification salary can be negotiated. In addition, we offer a performance-related bonus payment and participation in our stock option compensation program.
