Position Summary

Contributing to the Hookipa strategy goals, this role secures the optimal utilization of the company’s human capital, i.e., regarding competencies, availability, cost, leadership company culture, people related risks and others. This role is responsible for setting, aligning, and implementing the HR strategy across the business, defining state of the art processes and tools and managing ongoing HR issues.

Main Responsibilities
  • Leadership over a team of 4 employees
  • Developing the relevant HR strategy in line with the business and creating HR policy and instruments to enable and support the business
  • Ensuring that the organization has the people capabilities to deliver present and future business goals
  • Establish compensation programs and policies that use reliable benchmarks, reflect well-established compensation philosophies, and embody policies and practices aligned with the company’s overall goals and objectives – including the negotiations with the supervisory board
  • Be a strong partner to the Executive Team culture and HR practices between Austria (Vienna) and USA (NYC)
  • Continue to build the employer brand in the marketplace. Pursue multiple avenues for sourcing high quality and diverse talent. Strive for high-quality candidate experience.
  • With a strong coaching skillset, continue to help shape and elevate the alignment and performance of Hookipa’s team, having a well-honed eye for talent, knowing how to identify and develop the current and future leaders.
  • Responsible for the design & implementation of all HR governance topics, HR strategic processes and instruments for all levels of the organization
  • Ensuring adherence to approved standards and processes in HR governance
  • Direction of talent development / succession in cooperation with all global HR functions
  • Developing the relevant HR strategy in line with the business and creating HR policy and instruments to enable and support the business
  • Ensuring that the organization has the people capabilities to deliver present and future business goals
  • Willingness to travel to NYC

Qualifications

  • University degree
  • A well-rounded HR executive, with substantial direct HR experience as a generalist with positions of increasing responsibility
  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated ability to connect business and talent strategies
  • Demonstrated success in change management, managing all kinds of stakeholder groups carefully
  • Strategic and entrepreneurial thinking and acting
  • Inspiring leadership skills
  • Sense of urgency to manage growth, foster an inclusive culture, accelerate results, and keep employees motivated and engaged during a complex transition of scale
  • Ability to translate vision into achievable goals and provide clear direction
  • Sound knowledge of innovative HR solutions and trends, both on the strategic as well as operational level both for Europe as well as for USA
  • Experience in working in truly intercultural environments (Austria/Europe vs. NYC/USA) and balancing both cultures
  • Experience in the development and implementation of compensation programs for Europe and USA
  • Excellent organizational skills, as well as an open-minded and flexible personality
  • Flexibility in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written, German is beneficial but not a must
  • Experience in life sciences preferred
  • Valid EU working permit

We are required by Austrian law to post a minimum salary. The minimum monthly gross salary for this position is EUR 8.459,- based on fulltime (40 hours per week); depending on experience and qualification salary can be negotiated. In addition, we offer a performance-related bonus payment and participation in our stock option compensation program.
