Lab Technician (Assay Development) – Preclinical and Analytical Development

Position Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated Lab Technician with a strong background in assay development (cell-based assays, fluorescent staining techniques and qPCR) and virology to join our team. Focus of the Assay Development unit is to establish and perform assays for product characterization. With a strong emphasis on assay development, this position aims to contribute to broaden the Hookipa assay portfolio. This position is primarily laboratory based.

• Development and optimization of analytical assays for product characterization
• Plan, execute and analyze novel cell-based assays and/or qRT-PCR methods (under BSL-2 conditions) acc. to timelines
• Data analysis and evaluation, monitoring of assay performance (trending), troubleshooting by integrating a broad biological, as well as technical understanding
• Preparation, review and revision of relevant documentation for all work processes according to Quality standards (e.g. technical reports, assay qualification reports, …)
• Serve as SME in assay transfers – lead assay transfers
• Maintenance of laboratory equipment and stock keeping

Qualifications

• MTA, BTA, Dipl. Ing. (FH) or B.Sc., M.Sc. in relevant field (e.g. Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Immunology) or related subject in life science
• At least 2 years years hands-on laboratory experience in the field of virology or immunology
• Experience with immunological, virological or molecular biological techniques (e.g. cell-based assays, FACS analysis, WB, ELISA, qPCR)
• Strong background in assay development is of advantage
• Independent, well-organized and proactive work style
• Creative and communicative team player with a strong sense of analytical and strategic thinking who is able to work both, independently and as part of an (interdisciplinary) team
• Substantial knowledge and experience with Quality systems (e.g. GMP; GLP)
• Experience working in biopharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is of advantage

• Fluent in English, both spoken and written
• Valid EU working permit

We are required by Austrian law to post a minimum salary. The minimum monthly gross salary for this position is EUR 2.754,- based on fulltime (40 hours per week); depending on experience and qualification salary can be negotiated. In addition, we offer a performance-related bonus payment and participation in our stock option compensation program.
